Grace Cooley
Design Assistant
Grace joined the Ellwood team after graduating from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Masters degree in Architecture. She was the 2023 recipient of the American Institute of Architects Medal for Academic Excellence - a nationally recognized award honoring the work she completed as a graduate student. She loves all things design related, and is always creating, making, and experimenting.
Grace is an avid traveler and loves to draw design inspiration from all around the world. Having completed a semester-long study abroad program in Volterra, Italy, she understands design as a direct expression of culture and environment. Her experience allowed her to gain a global perspective within the design field, with opportunities to visit places with diverse and distinct building methodologies and design styles. While abroad, she was able to attend La Biennale Di Venezia, a celebration of art and architecture which explores design through the lens of contemporary cultural and social issues. This opportunity pushed her to think more critically about design and its ability to provide innovative solutions to real problems.
In addition to her passion for architecture and interiors, Grace enjoys other creative endeavors, including graphic design, photography, and playing guitar. She loves to cook and bake, and is happiest when everyone is gathered around the table. For Grace, people are always the first priority , and she strives to create community wherever she goes. Within the design field, she places a high value on collaboration and is proud to be part of such a stellar and hardworking team.
