Johanna Goddard

Senior Designer

Johanna joined Ellwood Interiors in 2020 after graduating with honors from Central Michigan University. Her time at CMU was completed with a degree in Interior Design and minors in both Professional Sales and Industrial Technology. While pursuing her passion for Interior Design in college, she was also able to pursue her love for lacrosse. She joined the club lacrosse team and later became the president of the executive board for two and a half years

Completing her coursework and graduating during a pandemic presented her with unique challenges and opportunities. Before joining the Ellwood team, Johanna focused on working in and re-working spaces with connections to nature to help create a more calming and relaxed atmosphere for friends and family who were beginning to transition to working from home. Biophilic design is one of her passions, and Johanna believes that incorporating bountiful natural light and connections to nature are the keys to a balanced life/design approach. 

Johanna is drawn to all aspects of design. She enjoys building relationships with clients, selecting finishing materials, sketching, drawing and even entering items into a selection sheet.

Outside of the office, Johanna loves to travel and explore. While in school she had the opportunity to study abroad in Ireland, where she found a passion for different architectural styles and the use of bold colors. She has also traveled extensively throughout the United States, including to several locations along both the East and West Coasts, strengthening her ideas from many different approaches and styles.  She plans to continue her travels to many different places and to draw from those experiences as she continues to develop her design strategies.
