Ultimate Man Cave

Posted on: October 21st, 2011

Man Cave can be defined as:

A house or apartment which upon entering it is immediately evident that no women live there, as the manliness of the man or men living inside is visible in every part of a mancave

Get your head in the Game.

Walls – Don’t be boring, do something other than beige walls. Check out MuralsYourWay.com and look for your favorite stadium mural. The below is the Michigan Vs. Iowa game. Sizes range from 8′w x 3′h (one section $227.76) to 16′-8″w x 6′-8″h (five sections $981.00).  Relive the game and be part of the crowd.

Sustenance.

Noms – Vending machines. There are a variety of personal vending machines available. From small countertop storage that hold 9 beverage cans to commercial size machines that hold 344 of your favorite Noshings. The system is programmed to accept both coins and bills. Presumably you would be inviting over your bro-friends so don’t be cheap and program the value at $0.00 per snack.

Seaga VC3000 Snack Machine $3,195

Drink – It wouldn’t be a brocave without a kegerator. Undercounter, mini, single tap to triple tap and for conversion kits and everything you need to know about ‘em check out kegerators.com

Beercaves – Beer loses quality every time it shifts from room temp to chilled. A beer cave is a custom room (any size you want) that is temperature controlled at a chilly 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Originally they were created to cut back on restocking time in super markets but I would love to see them in custom build outs.  If a room seems too much, consider an transparent Sub zero refrigerator dedicated to your favorite brands.

The Pub – Where everybody knows your name.

Bars come in all sizes and custom capabilities. If you are on a budge, Ikea Hack. Use pieces of their commercial hardware to create your own bar using a few base cabinets, both counter and bar tops, and free standing bookshelves for back bar storage.

Custom bars can include full amenities: Temperature controlled wine cellar, under counter refrigerator drawers, full wet bar, custom cabinetry, hand planed countertops, brass foot rails, raised paneling and more. It might we worth your while to design it out and check the cost while it’s still on paper versus diving into a remodel.

 Bathroom Break.

Tim the Tool-Man Taylor is pretty close, though his ideas could use a little fine tuning. Besides the essentials explore some personalized touches. For example stainless steel (treated and brushed so it won’t show fingerprints) wall paneling would amp the space up but nothing says “man” like a urinal.  The limit to what you would like installed is astounding. Toilet seats, for example, have come a long way. Kohler recently has introduced the C3 series that incorporates an adjustable water spray for temperature and pulsating motion. Sorry Charmin, looks like you might not be the bees knees anymore.  Further more this new age seat comes heated for additional comfort, adjustable warm-air flow for drying, and built-in odor control.  I don’t judge but I’ve heard from a few of my clients it’s worth the whopping $1,048.00 you pay for it.  Toilet not included.

GOAL.

Games: It’s necessary for you guys with attention disorders to have a few things going on. Billiard and foosball tables can be very expensive and can eat up the real estate needed for those gambling machines.  Park & Sun has an answer: 4 in 1 game table. You get foosball, billiards, rod hockey and dice football for $438.75

Darts: PubSignShop.com allows you to rule your domain by customizing dart boards, beer signs, poker boards and much, much more. Prices run from $29.00 up to $200.00 a noteworthy site, bookmark it boys. Custom Dart board from PubSignShop.com $118

If you have a sprawling pad; the sky is the limit to types of game tables, pub tables and quantities of games showcased.

Offseason.

Got the post season blues? No worries. Grab a seat, pop some popcorn and watch the recaps in your Home Theater.  Better yet, snuggle up with your lady friend (yes, remember her?) and watch a non-sports related movie.

Moderate Rustic Home Theater

High End Custom Home Theater. Jay Miller, president of Acoustic Innovations joined with Jeff Hoover, dream maker and president of Audio Advisors, in creating this sci-fi theater which has motion-activated air-lock doors with series sound effects, and a Red Alert button on the Crestron TPMC-10 controller.

Just like anything we design, we can scale up or down.  Home theaters can be complex and can begin at a $6,000 upgrade and go up to $135,000. high end built out.  Key points: controlled lighting, comfortable seating, high quality materials, plenty of storage, and oh yes… THE BIGGEST SCREEN POSSIBLE. The ratio of movie screen is quite scientific. Standard HDTV is 16:9, Classic film is 4:3, Super wide screen, that most contemporary films are produced in, is 2.35:1  I’m going resist going into further detail in order to save this topic for another blog.
